It’s certainly true that “there’s no place like home for the holidays” but The Theresa Academy of Performing Arts is a great runner-up! The hallways are filled with Christmas tunes, the fall art on the walls are being replaced with glittery and ornate holiday creations, and lots of special events are right around the corner.
Thanksgiving weekend, TAPA was proud to show off their second tree at the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County’s Festival of the Trees. The tree “With a Song in Our Heart”, displayed handmade ornaments made by TAPA students that showed off our love for music and the holiday season! Elizabeth Connolly, TAPA’s art teacher, helped students to create garland, glass ornaments, and felt decorations for this unique red and silver tree.
On Sunday, December 14th, TAPA held the first annual Holiday Breakfast for students and families. Students attended a one-hour workshop with parents and caregivers that included music class, arts and crafts, breakfast, and a private, professional photo session with Santa, Snowmen, and Elves! It was a joyous occasion and we are so proud to offer an opportunity for students with special needs to have a photo taken without having to wait for hours at a mall.
Although the holidays can’t last forever, the celebration at TAPA will continue with weekly Saturday Respite and fun Sunday Workshops.
